I've Got Sunshine...

on a cloudy day!  Well, it was semi-cloudy, and super cold in when I left for my Thursday morning meeting.  I leave for the meeting at about 6 am, and I realized as I was going to bed the night before I had no idea what I was going to wear.

After changing a couple of times while trying not to wake Daniel up, I settled on this black ensemble with the pop of yellow.  Ironically, when I got to the meeting (late because of my outfit indecisiveness) my mom was wearing practically the same thing!

Silly face!

The only technical fail was my tights.  They were textured tights and my skirt caught on them and moved forward in a funky way every time I walked around.  No good!  So as soon as I got home I changed:

Wahoo!  It was perfectly comfy for my indecisive morning.

A FOTD inspired by Youtube

Just a face of the day today!  I did this look to attend a business picnic on Sunday, and it was perfect for the weather, which was much warmer than I expected.  Silly summer still holding on!

I first did this look based off of this youtube video:

My relationship with makeup people on youtube is a story for another day though (preview: it is very one sided).

Although I am not personally a fan of the Twilight series (blasphemy!) I loved this look!  I did not, however, have literally any of the products she uses, soooo I improvised.

I went with my normal base makeup, which I will list in a little more detail than I usually do below.  Tanya uses MAC Patina for the primary color, which is a color I don't have, so instead I layered MAC All That Glitters first with Sable on top of it.  According to her, the real color is more of a golden color than what my layering makes, but this is a nice color combination for me, so I go with it.

Beyond layering the colors to create the base, I find it is important for me to pull the gray and black shadow that you layer along your lash line into my outer corner and slightly in the crease as well for a little more definition.

As you can see I started in my polka dot sweater again, but luckily I brought an emergency tank top because we got to the picnic and it was hot. Yay emergency tank tops!

Since this is more focused on my makeup, I have listed the products in the order I applied them.  Hopefully that helps if you want to do this look yourself!

My Face:

Base Makeup-

  • Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller (blended with my finger under my eyes)
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 20 Beige (I use a small, flat top kabuki brush to blend it all over my face)
  • MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC15 (I use a small, fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend this on any spot that needs coverage, like pimples or redness around my nose.  Everywhere except under my eyes)
  • Origins Plantscription Anti-aging concealer in 01 Light (Use the same brush as the last step to blend this liquid concealer under my eyes)
  • Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder in 30 Naturel (This powder can be a little on the dark side for me sometimes, but it's perfect in the summer and in the winter I just make sure to have a light hand.  I start by setting the concealer under my eyes with a small fluffy brush, then I set the spots I put concealer.  After I powder those spots separately, I use a large fluffy brush to brush a light layer over my whole face.)

Eyes-

  • MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Lingering (I use this pencil to define and fill in patchy spots in my brows.  I always brush through them before and after using it, first to place my brows about where I want them, and I feel like it helps it look more natural to brush them through again afterwards)
  • NARS Pro-Prime smudge proof eyeshadow base (Literally the best eyeshadow base EVER! I just blend it over my lids with my fingers)
  • MAC All That Glitters (all over my lids and up through your crease)
  • MAC Sable (same as with All that Glitters, but I try to keep the inner third of my lids only lightly layered, and focus the Sable more on the middle and outside of my lid)
  • MAC Hocus Pocus (any gray shadow will do, this happened to be a limited edition color from the blogger collection.  I use a slanted eyeliner brush to layer it on the outer half of my lash line.  Just like she does, I blend it out with each addition)
  • MAC Carbon (same as with Hocus Pocus, just much less needed.  The whole thing should stay soft)
  • MAC Brule (as a highlight. I sweep it over my brow bone right at the end and blend out any hard edges of the shadow with a clean fluffy brush)
  • Lancome Eyelash curler and Makeup Forever Smokey Lash mascara (self explanatory)
  • Maybelline Great Lash Clear mascara (I use this as eyebrow gel)
Cheeks-

  • Dior Bronze Matte Sunshine shade 002 Honey Matte (brushed along my cheekbones, temples, and jaw line)
  • MAC Margin Blush (brushed onto the apples of the cheeks)
  • Dior Shimmer Powder in 002 Amber Diamond (brushed along the tops of my cheekbones)
If any of the lines from my cheek makeup seem harsh, I keep a clean kabuki brush to use to blend it out.

And one last picture... Daniel tried to photobomb me and I caught him lol :)

And that is all I have to say about that.

Extra points if you can name that movie.

SF Giants Outfit!

You read yesterday of my Giants happiness, so here is my Giants outfit to celebrate as they were closing in on the NL West title.

But first, some better pictures of my nails.  They have a definite orange sheen, but are really more of a coral color underneath.  So pretty!  And the gelish polish is just AMAZING, I never have nail polish last this long!

Here are a couple of views, including against my Giants snuggie where you can really see the orange.

anddddd the outfit of the hour!

It was a chilly morning, so I went with tights and short boots to keep my legs warm.

A REAL camera pic (!!!) right before I changed and we headed to the game last Friday.

I love skirts and tights in the winter... comfy, still plenty warm here in Northern California, and very feminine still.  The gray tights were brand-spanking-new and I think I will enjoy experimenting with colored tights and belts as it gets cold outside.

I threw on my boots and black skinnies for the game itself (plus many, many layers of course).  It was tons of fun and the only game we made it to this season with one of our good friends Rachel and her bf.

It was a beautiful night at AT&T park...

Awesome game. Just awesome.

Silly faces, duh.

And the gorgeous view of the bridge as we headed back to our cars (after the traditional victory donuts of course!)

If the season continues to go well, I should have more SF Giants themed outfits!  YAY GIANTSSSS!

Gotta love the City... any San Francisco recommendations? I feel like there is so much more of the City we haven't made our way to yet!

A Belated OOTD

It has been one busy week.  I've been feeling decidedly under the weather, and have been getting to work late and leaving late to compensate for my slow moving mornings.

But on a happy note, this outfit is awesome.  I am expecting to get a LOT of wear out of the sweater this fall/winter!

As I walked in the door for work.

This is one of my new sweaters that I have been looking forward to wearing with the colder weather.  yay sweaters!

iPhone pics FTW!

Spots and boots... aka YAY fall outfit! I'm over embracing the warmth (although I'm not convinced the warmth is over embracing me).

anddd a Giants update, duh!

We spent our evening celebrating the Giants clinching the National League West title, woot!  So this post is post-champagne/beer, hopefully everything makes sense :)

BAUSS.  Go Giants!!! We went to the game the day before they clinched (Friday) and I will have a Giants themed post for you tomorrow :)

I ask again... any Giants fans out there?

Today I Don't Feel Like Doing Anything...*

*Alternate post title = "The Lazy Day" ... get it? Bruno Mars? Lazy Song?  Well I love it anyways :)

As I said in my last post, I'm feeling a little under the weather, so it was a struggle to get out of bed and get to work yesterday.  Thus, the lazy outfit.  So comfy too, and you can't beat that.

Only marginal photos today, since getting to work late = leaving late and it was fairly dark by the time I got home.

I like to wear my SMC stuff when I need a little get moving mental kick.  It helps remind me of the work ethic I needed to get through school, and I try to get myself back in that mindset when I need to get stuff done.

And my new, trusty Gap sweater.  It seriously can't be beat.

Pants: Gap (they are my skinny black pants, as seen here and here)
T-Shirt: Saint Mary's Bookstore (Go Gaels!)

Oh! Oh! I just noticed you can see my nails in these pictures!! Pretty, right? I'll still take a better picture later :)

Still on the search for an easy, quick, natural every day look.  This was nice, but not as quick as I would like.  Maybe if I do it several days in a row it will get quicker?

This is definitely more the look I want, but I'm really not feeling my Laguna bronzer anymore.

My Face:
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (officially my favorite foundation EVER.  I've never been so happy with a foundation for so long!)
Origins concealer
Chanel Loose Powder
MAC lingering eyebrow pencil
clear eyebrow gel
MAC paint pot- Bare Study
MAC eyeshadows - brule, soft brown matte, carbon
Clinique gel liner- black
NARS Laguna bronzer
Korres blush- natural

What are your favorite, everyday products?  I'm looking for new things to try!

A Weekend Round-up and Monday's Failed Outfit

What I Wore Yesterday

As I wrote in my last post, Daniel (that would be the Mister to you guys) came back a little early from housesitting, but before he got back I distracted myself sufficiently.

I spent time with the kitty ♥

Made my first fall baked good! Pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  mmmmm.  I'm going to eat one now!

andddd my mom and I got our nails done.  Always fun! I got a GORGEOUS coral/orange color, makes me feel like I'm supporting the Giants all the time :)  Of course I haven't taken a picture of it, but I will soon in the daylight!

I'm also beginning to decorate for fall.  Once I get a couple more things up I'll post about it.

As far as outfits go, I have been completely uninspired lately and feeling a little under the weather.  I'm finally feeling the first tickles of a soar throat, but I have been exhausted for the last week!

I really tried to look cute yesterday, but I felt so constricted by my button up that I stripped down to my cami and wore a sweater all day.  This is the only pre-stripdown (dirty) picture I have:

I layered a cardigan and button up and wore my orange pants since we were going to the Giants game that night.  The lipgloss was a limited edition MAC gloss from the bloggers collection called persimmon.  I rarely wear it, but it is one of the more orange lip products I own, so it seemed appropriate :)

Us at the game.  Go Giants! It was a lovely win :)

and GREAT seats! It didn't really get cold until the very end of the game, but I came prepared so it was ok.

I got my hair trimmed and colored yesterday as well, but it is impossible to tell in these pics.  Check back tomorrow for better photos!

It was a nice weekend and despite the Monday outfit fail, a great day and evening, although I got practically NO work done.  Just makes for longer days later in the week.  Oh well.

Anyone out there a Giants fan?

My Fall Wishlist

*I started this for you yesterday, but the mister came home early and surprised me! Good news for you guys, he can take my pics again :)*

I've been too lazy to take outfit pictures lately, so instead I thought I'd share my current fall wishlist.

1. Flat Brown Boots
I already have black boots, but I realllly want a nice pair of dark brown ones for looks like this one I posted the other day:

Here are a few boots I've pinned:

Possible purchase:
Naturalizer 'Juletta' Tall Riding Boot, $200 via Nordy's

Splurge: Tory Burch 'Elina' Riding Boot, $495 via Nordy's

2. New Flats
I really want to invest in a nice pair of leather flats for this fall and winter. I had a super cute pair last year, but they were a synthetic material and after wearing them a bunch they got SUPER stinky! Not attractive.

I don't have much to show you in terms of examples, I have a much less set idea of what kind of flats I want.  Here is one example though:

Source: jcrew.com via Melanie on Pinterest

I love a simple, classic flat with a little something going on.  I figure worst case, if I can't find any I love, I'll just buy another cheap pair for the season.

3. Belts

Now I have a confession... I am terrified of belts.  I don't know which ones to buy, I don't know how to style them unless I have a very specific idea already in mind.  I want to overcome my belt issues, because I LOVE how belts look! Especially with cardigans and skirts and tights in the fall/winter.

4. Fluffy Winter Skirts

Speaking of skirts and tights, I want some.  Maybe a lot.  Ok, I really want as many as I can find that looks good on me.

And things that I would love to get if I run across them, but I am not actively searching for:

5. Boyfriend Jeans

6. Rain Boots

I tend to wear a lot of black, white, gray, and other dark colors (dark blue, dark purple, etc).  I love the idea of adding some color to my outfits with accessories like rain boots.  I don't know if I like the red, orange or yellow more!

Basically, I want to look like this:

Anyone else craving some new things for Fall?

Orange You Glad I Didn't Wear Orange?

I crack myself up haha

No orange yesterday.  Our business was a sponsor of an Internet Marketing Seminar yesterday, so it was a business kind of a day.  I almost wore coral instead of the minty color though!

A not-so-great picture of my make-up.  The camera focused on my mom's hula hoops LOL! She is a hooping machine :) I'm currently on a quest for the perfect, quick-ish and easy morning make-up routine.  This wasn't it.

mmmmmmm coffee :)

Me as soon as I got home.

Please excuse all the stuff on the counter, I ran late this morning and just left everything!

The whoooooole shebangggggg.

These are seriously the most comfortable heels I own.  They were the first 'big kid' heels I ever bought, so they are super worn in and SO comfy.  Love that I can make it all day in these!
