A Dress From My Momma :)

Still working through my recent mega haul! Thursday was my first day of a QuickBooks training class at the Intuit campus.  I wanted something I could layer in case the room was cold, comfy enough to sit in all day, but still slightly on the professional side.

A blurry iPhone pic from the bathroom lol

andddd back at home! I saw this dress hanging at Gap and immediately loved it, but I didn't want to even try it on because I  knew I couldn't spend that much money.  My mom insisted I tried it on anyways and when I loved it, she bought it for me :)  Yes, I have the best mom ever.

The cardigan was another see-it-and-love-it moment.  I love cardigans in general, and I was looking for something just like this - long, a little on the lighter side.  Perfect weight for our California fall and winter!

And I finally wore my new flats! LOVE. THEM.  So cute, and pretty comfy. They rubbed at one or two spots, but I think that will get better the more I wear them.  Hi boyfriend's feet!

Hi boyfriend's face! :)

Another Heat Wave Outfit

We had a solid heat wave here in the Bay Area for the last couple of weeks, so I've continued my theme of attempting to wear things that I won't be able to wear once it gets colder.

I also wore another part of my recent haul - a new shirt!

My mom actually bought this shirt a couple of months ago in orange, and I never tried it on.  I was never quite sure why, because I always liked it.  So when I saw it on sale online, I went for it in the gray color.

The best part is definitely the back detailing! It is a different fabric with a line of buttons at the top.  See Gap's pics:

This was nice a cool for a hot day! andddd with my wedges:

Another thing I won't be wearing as it gets colder :)

I also gave my newest eyeshadow (Mulch by MAC) a test drive.  Loving it so far!

Did anyone else shop the end of summer sales? I'm finding myself seriously tempted by a LOT right now!

A Tale of Two Skirts

Two of the newest additions to my closet are these skirts.  They were my late night, online shopping attempts to create my own versions of looks like these:

So in my recent haul, I bought these skirts, both styled the same way with simple white tees.

I wore this at the end of a long couple of days in Tracy celebrating one of our good friend's engagement at the Tracy Wine Stroll! An awesome, but exhausting couple of days.  After driving with no air conditioning back to San Jose, we got home only an hour and a half before I was supposed to meet some of my other girlfriends for a girl's night of dinner and drinks.  It was a struggle to get off the couch, but I managed to swap out my denim shorts for this skirt and it was perfect. kept me nice and cool, cute enough that I didn't feel underdressed!

You can see in this picture the massive wrinkling, but honestly it didn't bother me.  It was definitely a bit on the tight side, but that helped define my waist.

andddd the second skirt! The next day, I just wanted to try out this new number that I ordered on sale, online from Gap.  LOVE the pattern and the weight of the skirt.  I couldn't decided where I wanted to wear it (lower on my hips or up on my waist) so I left it kind of loose so I could adjust it during the day.

It was exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered these two skirts online.  I think next time I need to be more decisive on where exactly to wear it on my body.

I also enjoyed playing with a new eyeshadow, MAC's Mulch.  It is the perfect slightly smokey brown when I use it all over the lid.

I feel like I look exhausted in all these pictures! It was a long, but awesome weekend, so I guess this is what I get :)

Simple OOTD Round-up

I was feeling a little uninspired in my outfit choices lately, so I have been sticking to fairly simple outfits that are comfy, but still put together.  I've also been making a semi-solid effort to incorporate some of my summer clothes that can't be remixed very well for the fall or winter.

So, here is what I wore last week:

Last monday started chilly but warmed up quite a lot pretty quickly, thus the layers :)

And a FOTD with MAC Cranberry eyeshadow...

Since these were the only pictures that came out ok, no big FOTD post.  It was a nice look though!

Tuesday was hot-hot-hot (see here) so I stuck with a simple dress, a favorite that won't make it past these summery days!

Also giving minimal makeup a shot lately.  Not bad, if I do say so myself.

andddd my shoes.  They rock.  Target FTW!

The wedges have gold specks in them, can't really tell in these pictures.

Wednesday, I realized I had yet to wear this scarf this summer, and that just seemed like a tragedy.

I thought the blue and coral seemed like a nice way to make my outfit more interesting with minimal effort haha!

Can't beat comfort and versatility with shorts, a tank and a sweater!

I recently got a butt-load (technical term) of new stuff, so expect to see it featured coming up in my next posts!

Here is a preview:

A pile of my new stuff! Still finding homes for all of it :)

I've Got Sunshine...

on a cloudy day!  Well, it was semi-cloudy, and super cold in when I left for my Thursday morning meeting.  I leave for the meeting at about 6 am, and I realized as I was going to bed the night before I had no idea what I was going to wear.

After changing a couple of times while trying not to wake Daniel up, I settled on this black ensemble with the pop of yellow.  Ironically, when I got to the meeting (late because of my outfit indecisiveness) my mom was wearing practically the same thing!

Silly face!

The only technical fail was my tights.  They were textured tights and my skirt caught on them and moved forward in a funky way every time I walked around.  No good!  So as soon as I got home I changed:

Wahoo!  It was perfectly comfy for my indecisive morning.

A FOTD inspired by Youtube

Just a face of the day today!  I did this look to attend a business picnic on Sunday, and it was perfect for the weather, which was much warmer than I expected.  Silly summer still holding on!

I first did this look based off of this youtube video:

My relationship with makeup people on youtube is a story for another day though (preview: it is very one sided).

Although I am not personally a fan of the Twilight series (blasphemy!) I loved this look!  I did not, however, have literally any of the products she uses, soooo I improvised.

I went with my normal base makeup, which I will list in a little more detail than I usually do below.  Tanya uses MAC Patina for the primary color, which is a color I don't have, so instead I layered MAC All That Glitters first with Sable on top of it.  According to her, the real color is more of a golden color than what my layering makes, but this is a nice color combination for me, so I go with it.

Beyond layering the colors to create the base, I find it is important for me to pull the gray and black shadow that you layer along your lash line into my outer corner and slightly in the crease as well for a little more definition.

As you can see I started in my polka dot sweater again, but luckily I brought an emergency tank top because we got to the picnic and it was hot. Yay emergency tank tops!

Since this is more focused on my makeup, I have listed the products in the order I applied them.  Hopefully that helps if you want to do this look yourself!

My Face:

Base Makeup-

  • Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller (blended with my finger under my eyes)
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in 20 Beige (I use a small, flat top kabuki brush to blend it all over my face)
  • MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC15 (I use a small, fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend this on any spot that needs coverage, like pimples or redness around my nose.  Everywhere except under my eyes)
  • Origins Plantscription Anti-aging concealer in 01 Light (Use the same brush as the last step to blend this liquid concealer under my eyes)
  • Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder in 30 Naturel (This powder can be a little on the dark side for me sometimes, but it's perfect in the summer and in the winter I just make sure to have a light hand.  I start by setting the concealer under my eyes with a small fluffy brush, then I set the spots I put concealer.  After I powder those spots separately, I use a large fluffy brush to brush a light layer over my whole face.)

Eyes-

  • MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Lingering (I use this pencil to define and fill in patchy spots in my brows.  I always brush through them before and after using it, first to place my brows about where I want them, and I feel like it helps it look more natural to brush them through again afterwards)
  • NARS Pro-Prime smudge proof eyeshadow base (Literally the best eyeshadow base EVER! I just blend it over my lids with my fingers)
  • MAC All That Glitters (all over my lids and up through your crease)
  • MAC Sable (same as with All that Glitters, but I try to keep the inner third of my lids only lightly layered, and focus the Sable more on the middle and outside of my lid)
  • MAC Hocus Pocus (any gray shadow will do, this happened to be a limited edition color from the blogger collection.  I use a slanted eyeliner brush to layer it on the outer half of my lash line.  Just like she does, I blend it out with each addition)
  • MAC Carbon (same as with Hocus Pocus, just much less needed.  The whole thing should stay soft)
  • MAC Brule (as a highlight. I sweep it over my brow bone right at the end and blend out any hard edges of the shadow with a clean fluffy brush)
  • Lancome Eyelash curler and Makeup Forever Smokey Lash mascara (self explanatory)
  • Maybelline Great Lash Clear mascara (I use this as eyebrow gel)
Cheeks-

  • Dior Bronze Matte Sunshine shade 002 Honey Matte (brushed along my cheekbones, temples, and jaw line)
  • MAC Margin Blush (brushed onto the apples of the cheeks)
  • Dior Shimmer Powder in 002 Amber Diamond (brushed along the tops of my cheekbones)
If any of the lines from my cheek makeup seem harsh, I keep a clean kabuki brush to use to blend it out.

And one last picture... Daniel tried to photobomb me and I caught him lol :)

And that is all I have to say about that.

Extra points if you can name that movie.

SF Giants Outfit!

You read yesterday of my Giants happiness, so here is my Giants outfit to celebrate as they were closing in on the NL West title.

But first, some better pictures of my nails.  They have a definite orange sheen, but are really more of a coral color underneath.  So pretty!  And the gelish polish is just AMAZING, I never have nail polish last this long!

Here are a couple of views, including against my Giants snuggie where you can really see the orange.

anddddd the outfit of the hour!

It was a chilly morning, so I went with tights and short boots to keep my legs warm.

A REAL camera pic (!!!) right before I changed and we headed to the game last Friday.

I love skirts and tights in the winter... comfy, still plenty warm here in Northern California, and very feminine still.  The gray tights were brand-spanking-new and I think I will enjoy experimenting with colored tights and belts as it gets cold outside.

I threw on my boots and black skinnies for the game itself (plus many, many layers of course).  It was tons of fun and the only game we made it to this season with one of our good friends Rachel and her bf.

It was a beautiful night at AT&T park...

Awesome game. Just awesome.

Silly faces, duh.

And the gorgeous view of the bridge as we headed back to our cars (after the traditional victory donuts of course!)

If the season continues to go well, I should have more SF Giants themed outfits!  YAY GIANTSSSS!

Gotta love the City... any San Francisco recommendations? I feel like there is so much more of the City we haven't made our way to yet!
